The point is that when I was rudely awoken this morning by a very needy dog, I had no idea that waiting for me in my Twitter feed would be numerous posts about DoubleUpDay. I read one that said I should double my original donation. So I did. I felt pretty good that the first thing I did in the morning was something charitable. I scroll further down and find out that I am also supposed to double my word goal for the day...
If you read my post yesterday, you'll know that I declared 3,000 words would be an ideal goal for me. Now @NaNoWriMo was asking me to double it. 6,000 words. *expletive*
Well, they laid the challenge down. I couldn't just walk away from it.
I reached my initial goal of 20,000 total words, which was about 2,000 words of writing for the day. So I continued on, aiming for those 3,000. Now, I should tell you that those first 2,000 words took me hours because I found so many other things that I needed to do in my day. So going past 3,000 already ate up most of the daylight hours. But I made it to 3,000 and then set my eye on the next total word goal of 23,333. Well, I did it! I passed it with 23,627. I wrapped up the (rather lengthy and pretty much pure dialogue) scene and now my sleepy brain would like to shut off for the night. Well sleepy brain, with 5,550 words written today (not to mention this post which I've had to write out twice now due to inexplicable gremlin attacks - or maybe it's the Caterpillar, he did mess with Hatfield's tech pretty badly, too) I think I can bow out of my 6,000 mark with a clear conscience.
So good night all! Happy Writing to those still going into the wee hours!
