Can't Even - NaNoWriMo Day 4

The title says it all, and given the age group I spend my days with, I think it's rather fitting. Yesterday - actual Day 4- was a total flop. Thank goodness for my early lead because it really all does come down to this: can I balance it out? Last year I was in a perpetual state of panic. Juggling marking, planning, and a new sports team with out-of-town tournaments... and being the perfectionist people-pleaser that I am, I drove myself crazy. Not feeling as panicked this time around, but that doesn't mean that the mental/emotional exhaustion doesn't creep in there. Yesterday was one of those days. But I started my day drained so I knew going in that it was going to be a tough one, at staying in the office until 5:00pm and not putting away my marking/planning until 10:00pm, it's not surprising that I only got 426 words written last night. To be honest, I was tempted not to do any at all. So I am proud that I took my computer up to bed and did add to it. The writer in me really did want to keep going. I was tired, but I could see what I was writing. The problem is that my body refused to keep up. I could feel it shut down. So not a total defeat because I wrote more than if I had just given up, plus I had my word count well above the day 4 goal so it's not like I lost very much. My goal for today (Day 5) is to break that 13,000 mark. I want 15,000 by Friday for sure!

At least there's  weekend coming up so I can aim for those 3,000 word sprints. And it's a long weekend, t0o, so I, in theory, could be up to 25,000 before I'm back to work officially. That would be amazing to be half-way just a little over a week in!

I just need to keep these buffers up for the drain days to come. November isn't always pretty.

I wish I could do 3,000 word sprints! 3,000 words is still a marathon for me for one day!
